The latest rumours around Kollywood suggest that Big Pictures, the entertainment arm of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, has approached ace director Mani Ratnam to acquire the rights of his big budget trilingual Raavana, which recently completed its entire shooting.
Notably, Big Pictures was supposed to produce Raavana but later backed off due to unknown reasons. Mani Ratnam later produced the film under his own production house Madras Talkies.
When asked, a close source of Mani Ratnam refused to divulge any details about Big Pictures' move on acquiring the Raavana rights, calling it a baseless rumour. As of now, Mani Ratnam is planning to release the film in February.
According to sources, since Raavana is almost complete, Mani Ratnam has already started working on his next project, which we hear is titled Azan. The director intends to rope in Ranbir Kapoor to play the lead role in this Bollywood film, focusing on the life of Muslims.
