It has been a long wait for Indian sports and Indians. Abhinav Bindra has reinstilled the faith that India can make a mark in international sports, especially the Olympics. This young man of 28 has won the first Olympic gold for India in over two decades. He won the medal in the 10 m Air Rifle event. This is also India's first individual gold. India last won the gold medal in hockey, way back in 1980.
This win will definitely raise the spirits within the India contingent and all sportspersons will be enthused to perform their best. Let us hope that Abhinav's golden feat will set the ball rolling for many more medals!
