Everything with Mani Ratnam becomes hot news. Such is the awe with which the filmmaker is held by everyone in India. After the hugely successful Guru, Mani Ratnam is back as director again.
According to reports, the filmmaker will reprise the lead pair of his previous film in this film too. Yes. The celebrity ‘jodi’ of Aishwarya Rai and Abishek Bachchan will once again share screen space in his next film.
Mani Ratnam was earlier supposed to direct Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor in Lajjo immediately after Guru. However, since Aamir Khan was busy at that time with his directorial Taare Zameen Par, the movie has more or less been shelved. It is learnt that Mani had spent months readying the script of Lajjo and had also sat with Rahman to conceptualize the music for the film.
The new film is said to be produced by Walt Disney Studios which is also co-producing Kamal Haasan’s next, Marmayogi. Music for the film will be composed by Mani’s regular collaborator ‘Isai Puyal’ A.R. Rahman.
As to the story, sources say that Mani will be returning to romance after a long gap after Alaipayuthey. The director, who is a master in staging romantic scenes, will now explore a more mature love – the love that binds a married couple who find it increasingly difficult to balance their love for each other and their careers in their fast-paced lifestyle.
