Mani Ratnam seems to be doing some mid-course correction for his Ravan, which stars Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan. The director's current cameraman Manikandan will no longer be working for Ravan, as he has decided to opt for a Shahrukh Khan film instead. According to sources, Manikandan had a prior commitment with Red Chillies Entertainment, and had informed Mani Ratnam earlier about this.
A substantial portion of Ravan has been completed. In the meanwhile, Mani Ratnam has decided to appoint his close friend Santhosh Sivan.
Santhosh Sivan, a director in his own right, will be able to grasp Mani's ideas pretty quickly! He is an acclaimed technician and has won five National Awards. Santhosh grew up in Kerala and graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India in 1984.
Some of his noteworthy films include Ananthabhadram, The Terrorist and Ashoka. He has also worked for several of Mani Ratnam's earlier films.
