Nandita Das is in the news for signing a film to be directed by a Pakistani filmmaker Mehreen Jabar.
Ramchand Pakistani, will have other television stars from Pakistan playing pivotal roles in the film. The film’s storyline has been motivated by a real life incident, revolving around father-son duo who accidentally cross the border, to face trouble. The film brings out the stark reality of being a Hindu dalit in an Indian jail.
Nandita says the film’s director met her by chance at film festival. Later, the director narrated the story to her and she agreed to the project.
Talking about her role, she reveals that she plays the role of Champa, the boy’s mother.
Nandita, who gives her best shot to which ever genre she’s in, be it commercial cinema or otherwise, is sure to come out with a great performance.
Nandita’s popularity is sure to rise with this film, even with foreign audiences.
