Bobby Deol can be seen in an interesting role in director Samir Karnik's film Nanhe Jaisalmer. He is playing the character of himself, that is, actor Bobby Deol in the film. Director Samir Karnik's debut film was Kyun? Ho Gaya Na with Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and her then-beau Viveik Oberoi. (Senoir citizens may recollect that Jaya Bahaduri's debut film Guddi had Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan playing themselves.)
Nanhe Jaisalmer is Samir Karnik's second movie. Bobby and his little co-star Dwij Yadav (playing Nanhe in this film) were at Hotel Oberoi, Delhi recently to promote their soon to be released Nanhe Jaisalmer.
According to Bobby, this film is close to his heart. Unlike other movies, this movie has a moral to convey, but at the same time, it is not preachy. He really liked this script and this script is as close to his heart as Apne. The story is definitely going to entertain the audiences; not a single person will say that this is not a good film. When asked if he was comfortable working with a child, as children like to be in their own moods, he said (with a grin) that Dwij is very intelligent and they really had a good time together. Along with studying, Dwij loves acting.
"I thought that generally children have moods that change very rapidly, but all the dialogues were written for him and he was letter-prefect; in fact, Dwij used to prompt me sometimes on the sets. He will be with me in 2 more films, Roshan and Mera Bharat Mahan. My other forthcoming films are Chamku and Ek, a remake of a south Indian movie," says Bobby.
When asked which kind of character would he love to do, Bobby said, "As an actor, I would love to do all kind of characters, but my thrillers were appreciated more by audiences compared to my romantic and action films." About his style statement, he said, "There is nothing specific I like to wear; all attires in which I feel comfortable are my favourites." Answering a question if he takes some tips from his father, he says, "No tips can be taken or given as far as acting is concerned. My acting is instant in each and every film. There is no practice in it."
He has come across fans like Nanhe in his real life also. He, his brother and father always receive greeting cards on their birthdays from fan clubs. Recently, when he was in Ireland, the people there called him by name, meaning the people there also watch Hindi movies and know him.
The little master of this movie, Dwij Yadav, says his name 'Dwij' means twice-born and he enjoys acting. He says, "I enjoy learning dialogues more than my subjects in school." In Mathematics, without any tuitions, he scored 89% in his 4th standard. Apart from Bobby 'Uncle', he likes Shah Rukh Khan. He is yet to decide about his future plans. He liked Chak De India and Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. Other projects on which he is working are Roshan, Mera Bharat Mahan, etc.
Apart from these two, the other cast of this movie include Prateeksha Lonkar, Sharat Saxena, Bina Kak, Rajesh Vivek, Rushita Singh, and others.
This movie is the first film of Dharam Motion Pictures. It is produced by K Sera Sera (which was formed in 2002 by five youngsters), which has movies like Sarkaar, Golmal, Darna Mana Hai and Ab Tak Chappan to its credit.
Cinematographer Binod Pradan, responsible for movies like Parinda, 1942 A Love Story, Mission Kasmir, Devdas has poured his creativity in this movie.
