After Aishwarya Rai, A.R. Rahman, Freida Pinto and a few others, it is Neha Dhupia's turn to go to Hollywood. The scintillating beauty will play the role of a Bollywood actress in a three-part comedy series 'Bollywood Hero' to be telecast on a leading TV channel in the US. American actor Chris Kattan of 'Saturday Night Live' fame and British actor Julian Sans of 'Warlock' fame will be her co-stars in the series. The actress' name in the series would be Alima Lakhani, according to sources.
An excited Neha reportedly said, “The story is about Chris wanting to be part of a Bollywood project, coming to Mumbai and doing a film here. I’m playing the actress opposite him.” Neha got this role through her friend Tabrez Noorani who is actually assisting in producing 'Bollywood Hero' with Mumbai choreographer Longinus Fernandes. Elaborating on how she got the role, Neha revealed, “I gave an audition in the US after which I got the role. It’s not that after Slumdog won the Oscars this production house decided to do the mini series in Mumbai. I was on this project even before that.” Neha is keen on stressing that it is not Slumdog Millionaire which has done the trick since Tabrez Noorani was a line producer of Slumdog.
Ask Neha if she would come to the Indian TV screens. Well, the answer is not very positive. “If we have a production house as big as IFC and if they have a script as good as this one and promote it the way this show will be, then I might agree to do it... otherwise I don’t think so,” says the dazzling beauty.
This goes to reveal that Bollywood-meets-Hollywood is not just happening on big screens but even in small screens. Good luck Neha!
