Debutant Tamil director Pandiraj won the prestigious Golden Elephant Best Director award for his Pasanga at the 16th International Children's Film Festival (ICFF) in Hyderabad on Friday. Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla presented the award to director Pandiraj.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh. Produced by much acclaimed director-actor Sasikumar under the banner of Company Productions, Pasanga competed with 70 films from 20 countries. One of the biggest grossers at box-office winning rave reviews, it was also adjudged as a “clean entertainer’ by film critics and proved to be an excellent family entertainer.
Iranian movie Half Mine Half Yours won the title of best film and Chinese film Two Men Class Room was selected as best film by the jury. Another Iranian movie Child and the angel was awarded the best screenplay award.
Meanwhile, according to sources, Pasanga has now been selected to be screened at the prestigious Indian Panorama section on November 27 at the International Film Festival of India, commencing today in Goa.
