Director Dibakar Bannerjee, fresh from his success of Khosla Ka Ghosla, is now making Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye starring Abhay Deol, Archana Puran Singh, Neetu Chandra and newcomer Richa Chadha. Paresh Rawal appears in a triple role.
About working on the film, the director says, "Khosla Ka Ghosla was an entertainer for which the script required indepth knowledge of the working of criminal minds, their association with high society, police and the criminal network and the way the police treats them."
Though he didn’t spill much about Paresh Rawal’s role in the film, Banerjee says, "Paresh Rawal appears in a triple role, Dr. Brijkishore Handa, Googie Arror and the third character, if named, will reveal the entire film. All I can is that he's trying something he’s never done before."
And what does Abhay do in the film? "Abhay is a handsome and talented thief living the good life. Very stylish, with many girlfriends and usually spotted in five stars hotels," states Banerjee.
He is extremely detail-oriented about the costumes, "Delhi will be the setting for the film. We will study various characters on the streets of Delhi as the reality I depict in my films is very important to me. Research was crucial as Paresh Rawal's characters are quite unique." He further adds, "Even Abhay's role is very well researched and treated, as he starts out small and becomes a rich and well-known crook."
The film is expected to complete by the end of August and release will be known then. Banerjee's next, post Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye, a thriller based in Calcutta, is expected to go on floors next year.
