After getting positive response from the audiences for Gandhi My Father, director Feroz Abbas Khan now brings the film in English. Producer Anil Kapoor and Feroz Abbas Khan decided to make the English version of the film along with its Hindi version. “We had shot the English version simultaneously with the Hindi version, as we had planned to make it in both the languages. Both films are the same, except the language.”
“We made the Hindi film for Indian audiences. Similarly, the English film will be for international audiences. We will not release the English version in India; it will only have an international release. I could have dubbed the same film in English, but I was not happy with the idea of dubbing it; I didn’t want my film to lose its essence, so I shot it simultaneously with the Hindi,” he adds.
Darshan Jariwala, who played Gandhi in the film, agrees with Feroz’s statement, “You can reach out to wider audiences through this. Indian cinema is getting international recognition. I personally feel that Gandhi My Father is the best showcase for Indian cinema in terms of technical and the thematic content. I think this is the best film that India can offer to international audiences."
Feroz informs that the film is ready. Speaking about the release of the film, he says, “We are yet to work on release date. We will have to plan out promos accordingly.” Gandhi My Father’s script has also been selected to be a part of the prestigious Academy of Motion Pictures Library (Oscar Library).
