Kunal Kohli’s film Fanaa has been awarded the Navbharat Times’s Udaan Awards for promoting Hindi language. Filmmaker Kunal Kohli was felicitated by Amitabh Bachchan, who was a chief guest in the award function organized by Navbharat Times.
Kunal says, “This award was meant for contribution to Hindi. It feels great that my movie Fanaa got an award but at the same time, it is bad that we are getting awards for promoting our own national language.”
“It feels bad that the award is not much spoken of by the media. To be pragmatic, Hindi has been treated as a vernacular language, so we need to promote Hindi, since our new generation is not very keen to acknowledge it. It feels bad that we are losing our own language, which is part of our own culture,” he laments.
Kunal Kohli has finished pre-production work and is planning to start his new film, which is a love story. He has signed Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee for main leads while Rishi Kapoor will be seen in a guest appearance. His film goes on floors in September.
