Though the award winners for the 53rd National Film Awards have not yet been made public, the top contestants seem a clear cut above the rest.
Superstar Amitabh Bachan seems all set to grab the Best Actor National Award for his performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's melodramatic Black. He won the award for the first time in 1990 for Agneepath.
Sarika seems poised to win the Best Actress title, with competition coming from Rani Mukherji for her performance in Parzania (Yet to be released ) as a mother searching for her child during the Gujarat riots/ Parzania's director Rahul Dholakia looks all set for the Best Director award.
Naseerudin Shah is likely to bag the award for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role as an alcoholic coach in the film Iqbal. Buddhadeb Dasgupta's Kalpurush is likely to win the Best Film award against the box office hits Black and Parineeta. While Aparna Sen's 15 Park Avenue heads the list for the Best English movie, Rakesh Mehra's Rang de Basanti looks like a top runner for the award for national integration.
