Rahul Bose is all set to run at the Mumbai Marathon. Rahul’s initiative ‘The Foundation’ that works to prevent discrimination of any kind is all set to run for the Mumbai Marathon. Eminent personalities like Aparna Sen, Amitav Ghosh, Konkona Sen Sharma, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar and Teesta Setalvad have joined hands with ‘The Foundation’ to spread the message of non-discrimination.
'The Foundation’ has enabled six children -- Animesh, Bindu, Jinu, Matrena, Pratima and Rukhsar selected from over 100 schools of the islands for Andaman Nicobar Scholarship Initiative (ANSI), to run in the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon.
Amitav Ghosh, renowned author, says, “I am delighted to take part in the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon (SCMM) for ‘The Foundation’ to support the cause of non-discrimination.”
Never before in the history of the Mumbai Marathon have so many celebrities come together under the umbrella of one organization. Joining them will be 15 representatives from the Leeds Metropolitan University, London, as part of the initiatives of their multi-racial non-discrimination centre.
Rahul Bose, founder of ‘The Foundation’, event ambassador of SCMM 2007, winner of the Dream Run for two consecutive years and spokesperson of the Mumbai Marathon since its inception, is a part of the Dream Team this year.
Rahul feels, “With the children from the Andamans well settled in Rishi Valley and the SCMM around the corner, we feel this is an ideal occasion to celebrate with ANSI and its well-wishers who have never shirked from their commitment to a world where everybody has equal rights.”
According to Anil Singh, Managing Director, Procam International, Main organizer SCMM 2008, “I am delighted that Rahul Bose and The Foundation are a part of the Mumbai Marathon again this year and are using the Marathon as a platform to continue their efforts to fight discrimination. I support them wholeheartedly.”
