“Kismat ne ghumaya aur kahan pahunchaya,” sings Sonika Gill, who despite gathering acclaim for her role in Subhash Ghai’s Ram Lakhan, vanished from Bollywood. Now, she is all set to make a comeback in the industry after a gap of 12 years.
On asking where she had been all this while, she says, “I met an accident immediately after Ram Lakhan happened. Destiny had something else in store for me in spite of being the part of this film faternity since childhood.”
Yes, Sonika had faced the camera at the age of 11 in the film Kalyug Aur Ramayan. She was later seen in Manoj Kumar’s Clerk. Along with a job as a manager in U.S., being a follower of Gopiji, Piloki Prasadji and Shambosharan Ji, Sonika is a classical dancer since childhood and has shown brilliance in many shows overseas. Looking forward to performance-oriented roles; Sonika has kept her options open for both films and television.
To which she says, " Seven years of my life have kept me away from my art which has been my passion since childhood. Now that I am back, I would love to do roles which Smitha Patil and Shabana Azmi did in films like Avtar, Akhir Kyun, etc." Excited about her comeback in the industry, Sonika has 35 films on hand, including south-based films.
