DVPV is in fact about three separate stories, which merge impeccably into one climax. All three stories are love stories, and deal with differing aspects of the same theme. The consistent factor of these three parallel storylines is the music.
Story One:
Madhavan and Namrata are newly weds who are the perfect love birds. But soon their marriage vows are put to test by their pride; Namrata becomes successful singer, while Madhavan, is still struggling to find his place in the world of music. Conflicts arise and they are separated.
Story Two:
Jimmy is a rich eligible bachelor who falls in love with a not so well to do Goanese girl, Hrishitaa. She is not taken by his wealth so becomes a challenge for Jimmy to earn her love by trying to establish his own identity and be financially self-sufficient.
Story Three:
Sanjay a widower is the executive of a music company who moves to the neighborhood where Sonali lives with her paralytic brother Rakesh. Both are drawn to each other but Sonali's brother proves to be an obstacle in their love life. So Sanjay tries to find money to cure Sonali's brother as he knows that's the only way he would be able to marry Sonali.
In each of these stories the men are faced with a challenge; in order to reach their goals they land up participating in a mega musical competition. By winning this contest Madhavan could become a singer, for Jimmy this would be the ideal chance for him to prove that he is indeed capable of using his individualistic skills to stand on his own two feet and for Sanjay this would mean a chance to start his life all over again.
But there is room for only one at the top. To know who finally wins the contest & the fate of the other two watch this movie.
